Densel Fleming, CFP®
Candidate for General Treasurer

QUESTION: Why is the CFP® designation important as a candidate for General Treasurer?
ANSWER:
Like CPA’s, a Certified Financial Planner™ or CFP® must past a rigorous one to two-day exam, after undergoing two years of intense study and training in Investment Planning, Risk Management, Tax Planning, Professional Conduct & Regulation and more. Click here learn more from the CFP Board of Standards. Brother Fleming is the only candidate for General Treasurer who is fiscally credentialed and holds a financial designation to manage money for corporations and individuals. Certified Financial Planning professionals are well respected in the Financial Industry because of the in-depth fiscal expertise and knowledge requirements, even beyond a minimum B.A. of B.S.

QUESTION: What is Brother Fleming’s Corporate experience and is Corporate Finance experience important?
ANSWER:
First, it is important to establish a basic definition of “Corporate Finance”. It is primarily concerned with maximizing shareholder value (i.e. membership) through long-term and short-term financial planning and the implementation of various strategies. While at Bank of America, for more than 15 years, Brother Fleming held several executive leadership positions in Investment Management, Business and Commercial Banking and Consumer Banking.  His extensive and direct Corporate Finance experience (Treasury Management, Merchant Services, Commercial Credit Underwriting), led him to achieve Senior Vice President status, a ranking only bestowed to those with the highest level of corporate experience. While Corporate Finance is important, it is merely strategic effort that leads to safeguarding our Fraternity’s investments which is the Primary function of the General Treasurer. The technical experience in managing investment strategies completes the formula for success.

QUESTION: How does Brother Fleming quantify his ability to serve clients in 23 states?
ANSWER:

As the Chief Wealth & Investment Officer of an Investment Management Company and a Registered Investment Advisor, headquartered and registered in North Carolina (per BrokerCheck reporting) Brother Fleming manages investments for institutional and individual clients in “23 different states” and growing.
